New Marijuana-Based Epilepsy Treatment to Cost $32,500 a Year!

If it is covered by private insurance or Medicaid that will be a great improvement for qualifying patients, but otherwise GW Pharma’s newly approved CBD drug Epidiolex will cost sick patients over $32,500 a year.

That is roughly 10 times what the average medical patient spends on medical cannabis in robust state markets.

As new cannabis based pharmaceuticals come on to the market, patients will compare not only effectiveness and safety, price will also be an important factor. For those patients without insurance that covers the high costs of new prescription cannabis pharmaceuticals, it is likely that purchasing from a state medical cannabis program will still be the most effective way to get relief.
